Qualified coaches

All CarpSchool, BarbelSchool and Predator School coaches are qualified by 1 st For Sport to Level 2. This is currently the highest level of qualification available in angling. We are not qualified because it helps us catch more fish, but to enable us to help YOU catch more fish.

A qualified coach has many skills that other anglers, lacking the training may not have. Our coaches know how to asses your current skills and teach in the most effective way. Not all of us are like minded. You might be more academic, or perhaps very practical and others just take a few tries to get some things right. Our coaches tune in to how you learn and get the point across in the best possible way. In principal there is no right or wrong way to fish. But there are some methods that will put more fish on the bank and we always have the fish’s safety in mind.

We are all trained in First Aid and understand the importance of risk assessment to ensure your safety. Accidents are not common on the bank but pulling leads free from trees after a miss placed cast or sharp treble hooks on a pike lure have inherent dangers which can be avoided.

All coaches are covered by public liability insurance to the sum of £5 million.

Very importantly we all care about the future of our sport. It has provided us with great pleasure during our lives and we all hope it continues to do so for others in the future.
