Myles Gascoyne

I set up CarpSchool at the start of 2005 but my fishing career goes back much further. My apprenticeship in fishing started as a child, fishing for what ever came along. I was lucky to grow up in Kent with many of the now well known lakes only a few minutes away. I fished in matches on both rivers and lakes, learnt to tie and cast flies, loved winter pike fishing and wouldn’t miss fishing for tench on June the 16 th for anything! Like many, the appeal of carp fishing overtook that of the other species. Watching huge fish during the close season and seeing a few being caught infected me with the carp fishing bug.

Before long my days at school ended and 3 years of formal education in Fisheries Management began at Sparsholt College . On completing the course I spent the following ten years working aboard big game boats. I worked more than 300 days per year chasing light line records and winning tournaments. I was mate in the winning team of the World Blue Marling Championships in 1995, catching a 953lb fish.

A few things changed and I returned to England . Having enjoyed taking clients to catch fish of a lifetime abroad, I decided to set up a guiding and tuition service here in the UK . I am a qualified Level 2 Angling Coach and run CarpSchool, BarbelSchool and PredatorSchool tuition.

The Coaches

Viv is a full time Fishery Management lecturer, Tim a fisheries manager, Steve is the manager of Yateley Angling Centre to name a few.
